Barefoot Pedals Foundations Awards Six Scholarships to Local Students

(June 6, 2016) – The Barefoot Pedals Foundation has awarded four $1,000 scholarships and two $2,000 scholarships to local students entering their senior year at Catholic High School, St. Joseph’s Academy and St. Michael the Arch Angel High School and who are members of their school’s student ministry team or band and exemplifies leadership, spirituality, commitment to academic success and a skill in playing a musical instrument.

St. Joseph’s Academy recipients for the 2016 scholarships were Catherine Blanchard, band student, and Abigail Livingston, student minister. St. Michael the Arch Angel recipients were Marissa Lally, band student, and Alexandra Freeman, student minister. Catholic High School recipients for the 2016 and 2017 awards were Joseph Bagnerise, band; and Austin Tuminello, student ministry. Mark Thibodeaux, band, Trevor Thibodeaux, student ministry, each received a $2,000 scholarship in the fall of 2015.

Jeff Nola spent 12 years as a Catholic school educator where he served as a religion teacher, member of the campus ministry team, a volunteer for student mission trips, as well as a moderator for the marching band. In 2011, at the age of 35, Nola lost a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer called Burkitt’s Lymphoma.
